Review
Hosts Arabian Gulf and last year's runners-up China Taipei will playoff for the right to progress to the Asia Five Nations compeition in 2010. As a World Cup qualifying match the winner also qualifies for Asia Round 2.

The Arabian Gulf were too strong for the Thais and won comfortably after leading 17-0 at half time.

The Chinese team had to work harder for their win as the Sri Lankans led 19-18 at the break. The Chinese pulled away in the second half but not without a struggle.

China Taipei and Arabian Gulf play the final on Saturday. The home team has the home soil advantage but the Chinese will be a tough team to beat.

Thailand and Sri Lanka will play to avoid relegation to Division 2 for 2010.
