International Rugby: Sweden v Malta

01.11.2008
Sweden v Malta in Vanesborg (WCQ Euro.R3, ENC 2B)

Previews
No word of any team lists from anywhere on the 'net which is most unusual. An issue has arisen over the availability last weekend of Maltese player Jarrod Sammut. A rugby league player from Australia he was in breach of his Australian RL contract whilst turning out for the Malta rugby union side against Croatia. One can imagine that such controversy and that Sammut will not be available may affect Maltese team spirit.

The Swedes made a big impression in their first game in ENC 2B following their promotion last season. They won 21-5 over Latvia at home. This week's game is also at home, a distinct advantage. Swedish rugby blog http://teamswedenrugby.blogspot.com/2008/10/sweden-malta.html indicates that there will be changes to the Swedish side to play Malta. Simon Taylor, for example, will not be available.

Previous Encounters-These two teams have never met before.

GWC Rugby Rankings-Europe Table-Sweden 19th, Malta 22nd.

Prediction-Sweden on a roll by 20 points.

Teams
